May 4th CRS-17. ISS resupply
2:48 am from SLC-40 atop a Falcon 9, from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, FL.
CRS or Commercial Resupply Services is NASA contracts with private corporations to deliver cargo to the International Space station. CRS-17 rode on top of a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket to deliver over 5,500 lbs of food, and scientific experiments to the ISS.
This would be the first flight for booster 1056, a block 5 version of the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. Dragon, first flown in 2010 has successfully flown sixteen missions under the NASA contract to the International Space Station
The Dragon capsule consists of a pressurized compartment housing most of the cargo and an pressurized section behind the main capsule to house the spacecrafts solar arrays and other vehicular systems. Each Dragon capsule is recovered using a parachute system at the end of each mission and are completely reusable. The Dragon that flew this mission also flew the missions CRS-12 in 2017.
